Pulse 3D Wireless Headset Review

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Headphones have become a staple of gaming. With the rise of online gaming a quality headset is now a must if you want have a good experience communicating with your squad or your friends. It’s also a valuable accessory if you want to immerse yourself in a single player game while blocking out the distractions around you. So is the Pulse 3D Wireless headset the right choice for you? Is this a solid set of gaming headphones?

Let’s dive into it.

How does it sound:

The Pulse 3D headset isn’t going to win the headset of the year. Especially to audiophiles who love to analyze sound quality. To us with less gifted and untrained ears, this headset is perfect for experiencing good game audio. It really helps make the games come to life and helps players lock into what is going on in game.
The key feature of the headset is its 3D audio. The main objective of the feature is to make the gamers’ experience more immersive. It does this by using directional sounds to make you feel like you are around the areas that you are playing. This a feature that I absolutely love. It really stands out in Playstation first party games like The Last of Us Part 1, and Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection.

Looks:

The looks are very similar to the aesthetic of the PS5. It has a very modern design with sleek angles that dive into its rounded headphone over-the-ear cups. Just like the PS5, at first, the ultra-modern design looked weird to me, but it has grown on me over time. Shout out to Playstation for making the headset match the theme of the PS5.

Settings and buttons:

There are tons of settings and functions that you can manage using the buttons on the left ear cup. On the life cup these headphones have a USB-C charging port, a 3.5 mm jack, a power button slider, a mute button and toggle to adjust the volume in-game and the chat volume. It can be a bit overwhelming to see some many buttons stuffed on one side of the headphones.

One of the best aspects of the headphones is the battery life. Typically this headset last about 12 hours. The battery life isn’t the best when compared to other competitors, but it works well if you want to have an all day gaming session.

Music:

The Pulse 3D headset are solid headphones if you want to use it listen to music. The bass comes in as rich and strong especially when it you listen on high volumes. Do yourself a favor and listen to some Biggie or J. Cole with these headphones. Their bass filled songs hit hard.

Flaws:

One flaw of the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is the microphone.  It leaves a lot to be desired. While you can understand what people are saying only, voices have a tendency to come in slightly distant and muffled at times. This will do the trick when it comes to gaming, but fails short if you want a microphone for streaming and audio recording.

Unfortunately, this headset connects to the PS5 via a long USB dongle stick. You plug it into a USB slot and the headset rapidly connects to the dongle. I normally try to plug it in the back USB ports so it’s not visible. Sadly this takes up one of the few USB ports that the PS5 has to offer.

The Pulse 3D headset isn’t a premium item when it comes to its build quality. At this price point is to be expected that Sony would have to make some concessions is some areas. The headphones are made with mostly plastic as opposed to metal. It’s not the end of the world, but the build quality does make it feel cheap compared to other more premium headphones.

Overall/Should You buy the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset:

The 3d Pulse headset is rich with features like its 3D audio, battery life and sound cancelling. The tempest 3D audio technology really feels like a feature that is going to be the future in gaming. Overall these headphones perform well above its affordable price point.

There are some drawbacks though. If you are expecting headphones with the best build quality then these aren’t the headphones for you. However, if you want a headset that gets the job done and has a nice modern design then you won’t be disappointed with the Pulse 3D headset.
